Why resume–job matching matters on Upwork
Clients scan for evidence. If your profile says “full-stack” but the job is specialized video editing, your proposal will feel mismatched — even if you’re talented elsewhere.
Step 1: Extract the job’s skill map
From the post, list:
- Required skills
- Nice-to-haves
- Soft requirements (communication, timezone, tools)
Step 2: Map your resume honestly
Create three buckets:
- Overlap — you can prove it
- Partial — adjacent experience
- Missing — don’t fake it
Step 3: Choose the right resume version
